First weekend of rugby over

Posted on Saturday, 06 September 2008 21:02

Well the first season of Magners league rugby has been and gone., the Ospreys won, and the score predictor stood firm.

One thing that the Blues game today brought to light was that I hadn't thought about what should happen in the case of a draw. Now, draws in rugby a pretty rare, so I had to come up with a plan. To reflect the sheer ballsiness of predicting a draw, players will get -250 points when correct.

With a raft of features already added this weekend, such as score calculating, I will also be adding a feature that explains your score. This means there can be no disputes.

I am wondering if the points system will work. There are a couple of possibile revisions I may considder:

  • No penalty for incorrectly guessing the winning team. -25 bonus for the correct team, -250 for correctly predicting a draw.
  • No bonuses (Just like in IBM), just points difference.

Please add a comment if you think this should change.

The house move

Well the good news is that I've finally had the keys to the new house! Hurrah, unfortunately it needs a hell of a lot of work. This got underway today, with our bedroom having its walls stripped of layers of wallpaper. The front bedrooms had what can only be described as extensive remodelling, as they temporarily became one :) I think the DIY shows would be proud! Putting up a new ceiling tomorrow, sweet.

Caught up with Alex today, he got married! In January! In Thailand! Was sure I'd seen him since Christmas. Taking Michael to see him tomorrow.
