Rejigging the business
Posted on Wednesday, 13 May 2009 10:35I mused over renewing my hosting package for Digita yesterday. We've been in posession of the company for a number of years and not really done anything, well, scratch that, we've spent a lot of money and not done anything.
Despite numerous attempts to find that killer direction, something we can do in the evenings but that is also financially viable and comtemporary enough. I was going to move us towards SharePoint development and consultancy, but have just decided to focus on development for the moment.
Next stage is to breakdown what we plan to offer clients and what areas we are targetting.
Offerings
The plan is to offer all types of bespoke developments, specifically categorising under productivity, accounting, education, stock control, collaboration, and general integration with other systems.
We can basically do anything a client wants for SharePoint, once the requirements are established.
Clients
Again, there is no set client base that we will target, but I'd like to focus on education, and then look to other public sector clients. Private sector is also a consideration and I'll be happy.
Hurdles
There are a couple of hurdles we face. the main one being that we need to convey that we do this in the evenings, so working hours are not the same as other companies, and also getting the business to start with.
My plan is, once the site is up and there is an appropriate contact method on there, to start advertising services via twitter and other social sites.
I'm also going to start releasing free webparts via the site, to get people interested and spread the word.
Updates to follow.
